Braise 116 Opens its Doors in Downtown Haddonfield The New Eatery Serves Up Big Flavor on Small Plates
Braise 116, a new BYOB American tapas restaurant, recently opened at the Shops at 116 in Downtown Haddonfield directly across from Fuji Restaurant.
Braise 116’s goal is to procure the freshest ingredients and humanely, responsibly-raised meat. “Animals that are allowed to roam freely and to feed on their natural diet, void of growth hormones and antibiotics, are not only better for the environment, but taste better,” said Mark Raab, Braise 116 Owner/Chef.
Raab’s menu offers skillfully-prepared, artfully-crafted, small-plate dishes featuring impeccable presentation, all designed to bring people together, open the mind to new tastes, and provide an unforgettable experience. Some of his dishes include Grilled Octopus, Tea Smoked Duck Breast and Braised Beef Cheek Bolognese. Among the many vegetarian/vegan selections offered is the Mediterranean Platter with hummus, baba ghanoush, and olives.
With a background in fine art, Raab chose the name “Braise 116” as a homage to his past as a sculptor (“brazing” as welding term) and his present as a chef (“braising” as a cooking method). “Food is part of what defines us as a culture, and America is a melting pot of cuisine,” he says. “The challenge isn’t what we are limited to, but rather how to use our abundance of resources to make a concise dish that allows the diner to open their palate to something new, with a cohesive menu that allows them to experience all the flavors.”
Braise 116 is a BYOB restaurant that offers American-style small plates, with free parking on evenings after 6pm and weekends. It is located at 116 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield, New Jersey, open for lunch and dinner weekdays from noon until 9pm and Fridays and Saturdays noon through 10pm.
