The Foodery- Phoenixville, PA (Quick Look)
If you haven’t been to Phoenixville, PA (which is about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia) you are really missing out. This former steel town has undergone a huge revitalization over the past years and is a really great city to hang out in. It has attracted multiple restaurants, breweries, and boutique shops and it continues to grow at a fast clip.
My Daughter and I were driving through when we spotted this new place that opened called The Foodery. Since I knew they were building something here (my favorite Vape Shop is right across the street) I decided we would stop in. The sign says “Gourmet Market & Beer from around the World“. I was looking for a six pack for tonight anyway so this was perfect.
When we walked in I was like ” wow, this place is awesome“… first impressions matter. When I asked how long they have been open they told me since last Wednesday which was a little over a week. Upon further inspection on their website I found out this is their 4th location and they have been in business since 1976. Their other locations include : Center City, Northern Liberties and Roxborough.
When you walk in everything is super clean with wood planked accents… it screams beer market to me. There are big refrigerators all along the wall that have 100’s of beers and ciders. Actually they had the biggest cider selection I have ever seen (The wife loves this stuff and I certainly don’t hate it). They have cases, 6 packs and individual beers in various sizes. Each individual bottle is priced anywhere from $2-$5 on average but there are some “high end” brews. I walked around and made myself a variety pack.
Besides the “to go” stuff , they have a bar right in the middle of the place for a quick draft if you’re in the mood. Electronic menus hanging from the ceiling show what they have on tap today. The “Market” part is a sandwich shop that looks like a high tech Wawa. There are touch screens for ordering and electronic Menus displayed in flat screen TVs… really nice and easy to use. Among the choices were grilled cheese, panini, and make your own sandwiches They have a seating area so you can grab a sandwich and a beer and chill. There is also an outdoor seating area. Since we saw that a couple brought their dog I am guessing they are pet friendly since I didn’t see anyone complaining. Inside they even had a Foosball table… very cool.
While I did buy some beer we didn’t eat anything here. The pricing was higher than you would pay in one of those local supermarket “pick a 6 pack” places but the variety was worth it. In the near future I am going to stop back and experience the whole thing… go in grab a beverage and a sandwich and hang for a bit for a full review.
